The Tamil film Pithamagan is to be remade in Hindi. This film was released some 9 years back. Bala had directed this film. Vikram and Surya had shared the screen on this film.

This film fetched the National Award for Vikram. Director Sathish Kaushik who had earlier directed the film Tere Naam which was the remake of the Tamil film Sethu which had Vikram within the lead role is directing Pithamagan in Hindi.
Salman Khan is donning the role which Vikram donned in Tamil. Sathish Kaushik while speaking about this said, "I liked the tale of Pithamagan a great deal. This is the reason I'M remaking this film in Hindi. I'VE chosen Salman Khan because he would suit the role. The shooting of this film is to commence soon."
