This film was block buster and yielded great profits. This film was remade in Bengali by Mithun Chakraborty. There has been news recently that this film is to be remade in Hindi. It was also mentioned that Prabhu Deva could be directing this remake film with the intention to have Akshay Kumar within the lead role.
When asked Prabhu Deva about this, he said, "Basha which had Rajni within the lead role is a gorgeous film. This film attracted all more or less people. This film can't be remade in Hindi. There is not any truth within the news that this film goes to remade in Hindi, I don’t know who's starting such roughly rumours. I WILL direct a movie with a purpose to have Akshay Kumar within the lead role but that story is different."
