Director Sargunam who had given quality films like Kazhavani and Vaagai Sooda Vaa is now joining hands with Dhanush in a movie titled Sotta Vaalakutty. S Kathiresan who had earlier produced films like Polladhavan and Aadukalam is producing this film.

The story of this film is set a brass lamp maker (Kuthu Vilakku) in Kumbakonam falls in love with a dental college student. That is narrated in a comical way. Vamsi Krishna is donning the villain role.
Nasar, Sayaji Shinde, Singampuli, Sreeman and Sathyan also are starring on this film. Choice of the heroine is occurring. Gibran who composed music for Vaagai Sooda Vaa is composing music for this film. The shooting of this film will commence over the past week of September in and around Kumbakonam. It's been planned to release the film throughout the month of February 2013.
