This film turned out to be super hit and earned Crores of rupees. Vidhya Balan who donned the role of Silk Smitha on this film also won the National Award for her best acting. After this, it was decided to remake this film in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages.
Sana Khan is donning Silk Smitha role in Malayalam. It's understood that Namitha will act within the Telugu remake of this film. Trisha and Anushka were approached for this role but either one of them turned down this offer. Now talks are being held with Namitha. She has agreed to behave on this role.
Namitha while speaking about this said, "Silk Smitha reigned as a glamour queen in 1980s and 90s. Now my fans are calling me as Silk. I'M an ardent fan of Silk Smitha. I'M able to reduce my salary to behave in her role."
