After she gave birth to a child, she distanced herself from acting. Director Bejoy Nambiar had approached her for the most important role within the film David which has Vikram and Jiva within the cast.

Initially Laura Dutta refused to behave on this film for the reason that she needed to deal with her kid. Later one she changed her decision.

She has agreed to behave on this film because this film is being produced in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages and this may be a large opening for her re-entry.

At the similar time, she has also stipulated conditions that she will take part in the shooting only at the dates which might suit her.
