Currently he's handling the camera for the Tamil film Thuppakki which has Vijay within the lead role. This film is being directed by A R Murugadoss.
The world famous Hollywood cinematographer who had handled camera for the Hollywood films comparable to Taxi Driver and Ragging Bull has seen the movies which Santhosh Shivan has handled the camera. According to his recommendation, Santhosh Shivan was invited to join essentially the most prestigious American Society of Cinematographers. It is a first time a cinematographer from South Asia have been invited to join ASC.
