Richa Gangopadhyay made her debut in Tamil films through Mayakkam Enna and Osthe. Having established her market around the South Indian film industry, she has started acting in her mother tongue Bengali.

She earned an excellent name in South Indian language films and for now has avoided signing any new projects because of this Bengali movie. When enquired about this, she has mentioned that she prefers to behave within the films which can be made in her mother tongue language. Except for that she doesn't wish to act in other language films without understanding them.
Since she likes Tamil films, she's going to be back in Tamil films only after learning Tamil. It's understood that she has engaged a tutor to show her Tamil language. Richa is currently acting in a Bengali film titled Singa that is the remake of the Tamil film Singam.
